There is a lot of information available about student finance, but it can be a baffling experience, so this lesson aims to cut through the basics of what to consider and what aspiring university students will need to have to hand to apply and what they will need to manage.
It also touches on the pros and cons of degree apprenticeships and deals with the parental burden which can be glossed over with regard to maintenance. It allows for discussion and the teaching notes include a link to duplicate a survey on Microsoft Forms to get students thinking about what they do and do not know and what they will need to budget for.
The Ppt is easily adaptable and aims to include all you will need for the lesson, but bearing in mind differing time frames for lessons, there are sections you can choose to include or omit to suit your needs.
This resource looks at the field of working with children and young people and includes preliminary survey on Forms, Ppt with discussion areas and printable discussion sheet in addition to teaching notes. It is a complete lesson, intended for post 16 students, so could be part of the PSHE or Careers programme, to widen awareness as they think about their post-18 options.
This bundle includes 10 complete lessons, with fully adaptable Ppts. Each lesson includes teaching notes and a link to an introductory quiz on Forms and all end with a plenary or follow-up quiz.

What am I worth? Careers Literacy
As part of our careers literacy resources, this presentation discusses the real prospect of workplace conflict, how to prepare to find out more about a company ethos, who to talk to in case of difficulty and the value of tackling problems. The teaching notes include a link to duplicate a quiz on Forms to prepare students for the session and to gauge their prior understanding. THe presentation includes optional discussion elements and links to further information.
This PowerPoint presentation is an opportunity for students to expand their awareness of where studying Biology A level or related level 3 subject could lead them. The Teaching Notes include a link to duplicate a preliminary quiz on Forms to get students thinking and the presentation includes opportunities for discussion, but also optional videos to include and links to further reading as well as guidance on how to expand experience. We have another presentation on Working with Animals, so that is not touched on so much here, but the 2 presentations are available as a 2 pack as well as individually from our shop.
This presentation would be suitable for Biology departments to use to promote careers and work towards Gatsby Benchmark 4 (it can be divided into sections), for Biology Week in October or for a sixth form careers session.

This resource begins with a survey to ascertain prior understanding of apprenticeships, then moves to the apprenticeship Ppt. The Ppt is adaptable and there is a follow-up quiz to check understanding. It also includes links to relevant sites for further information
Hospitality and Tourism offer many possibilities and can be accessed from numerous academic backgrounds. This presentation introduces students to possibilities in these sectors, while looking at the LMI for the food and beverage industry. It begins with a quiz on Forms to gauge student interest and awareness (the link to duplicate is in the Teaching Notes). The presentation includes optional discussion points and videos, so can be adapted to fit your time allocation.

This bundle gives insights into amazing contributions women have made and could be used to support Gatsby Benchmarks 3 and 4, Women’s History Month. It includes:
Women in Stem, which is a complete lesson and includes a preliminary quiz, which is then discussed as part of the lesson.
The Curie Women - the legacy of Marie Curie and her daughters
NASA Women - individual slides could be used as starters in Maths or Science lessons
Formidable Female Composers - this includes links to the music of the women mentioned and could work as a complete lesson or using individual slides and the relevant links as starters to inspire and support GB 3 and 4.
Cecilia Payne-Gaposchkin - the breakthrough astronomer - this presentation could be used to support GB 3 and 4 in encouraging students to see the value in determination and what a woman can achieve despite the obstacles in her way
Sofonisba Anguissola - an introduction to a woman who made her own career in a time where court artists were predominantly men. This could support art and design with GB 3 and 4.
This resource/lesson looks at the trillion dollar maritime industry and the vital role it plays for the UK economy, the importance of being an island nation, helping students to consider what possibilities are available in this area, where to find out more and to get them thinking about the subject.
The Teaching Notes include a link to a survey on Forms to duplicate to get students thinking about the topic in advance.
While it could fit with World Maritime Day on 30 September, it could also fit at any time in your careers programme and could link with having a speaker from the industry or with World Oceans Day. Links to further reading about maritime careers is included on the final slide.
This 2 part bundle includes a powerpoint on the value of work experience and tips on how to find a placement, and a powerpoint on the value of volunteering, to celebrate International Day of Charity at the start of September, but also at any time to demonstrate the value of volunteering, for the mental health of the volunteer, to help people in need, and to build skills such as empathy, teamwork, showing initiative, which are of value in the world of work and sought in job and university applications.
This bundle combines getting the academic year off to a good start with prime dates in September and contributes both to building study skills and resilience and to building awareness of the wider world and how students can contribute as citizens of the adult world.
This presentation is designed to coincide with Global Entrepreneurship Week, but could also be used as part of your careers programme and could be an ideal precursor to welcoming a talk from a local entrepreneur. It involves students researching a chosen entrepreneur, so they will require access to the internet. The teaching notes include a link to a preliminary quiz and there are printable worksheets to support discussion and research activities.
